Review: Mizon Real Soybean Deep Cleansing Oil and Rice Real Cleansing Foam

If you’ve read my blog on Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream and Mizon Returning Starfish Cream, you know that I am in love with Mizon’s products and always amazed by their quality.   And Mizon Real Soybean Deep Cleansing Oil and Mizon Rice Real Cleansing Foam did not disappoint!

Mizon Real Cleansing Oil and Foam

While I was fairly satisfied with Skinfood’s Egg White Pore Cleansing Oil and Cleansing Foam, I wanted to try out another cleanser set to see how it compared.  I got this set really cheap through the seller TOKTOK on Amazon, and paid only $16 for the oil and $8 for the cleanser.  This is my first experience with cleansers from Mizon.

Cleansing Oil

Like other cleansing oils, this one is also pretty liquid, but a little bit thicker.  It comes in a pretty green bottle, but the liquid itself is clear.  It smells a little fruity, and I’m sure that’s from the added fragrance and not the fruit extracts added to it.

Ingredients: Mineral oil, camellia oleifera seed oil, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, peg-8 isostearate, glycine soja (soybean) oil, isopropyl, palmitate, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, oenothera biennis (evening primrose) oil, limanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, vaccinum myrtillus fruit/leaf extract, saccharum officinarum (sugar cane)extract, acer saccharum (sugar maple) extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) fruit extract, citrus medica limonum (lemon) fruit extract, canca papaya (papaya) fruit extract, gypsophila paniculata root extract, hedera helix (ivy) extract, rubus idaeus (raspberry) fruit extract, portulaca oleracea extract, glycine soja (soybean) sproud extract, phaseolus radiatus seed extract, colix lacryma-jobi ma-yuen seed extract, sesamum indicum (sesame) seed extract, oryza sativa (rice) germ extract, hordeum distichon (barley) extract, polygopnum fagopyrum seed extract, fragrance

There are a lot of different oils mixed into this cleanser, which makes it moisturizing, but some of them are acne-triggers.  According to cosdna, the worst culprits are glycine soja oil and isopropyl palmitate.  But this is a cleanser and nothing is meant to stay on the skin, so it doesn’t really cause any problems.  I’ve used this cleansing oil for a month and it didn’t break me out!

Mizon Real Soybean Cleansing Oil

I apply a large amount to dry skin, and rub it into my skin for around a minute.  Unfortunately, I do need to use this oil twice around the eyes if I’m wearing a lot of heavy eye makeup.  The oil is super gentle and definitely does not make my face feel tight or stripped.  As you can see, it gets a little white as you add water. It washes away really easily, leaving no residue.  And my skin feels so clean and moisturized after using this.  My only problem with this cleansing oil is that it doesn’t last very long!  I pretty much used the entire bottle in a month.

Overall:

A great cleansing oil!  A little thicker than other ones, but it washes away cleanly without any residue.  Great first step in the double-cleansing method.

Pros: Cleanses well, no residue, and leaves my skin feeling moist.

Cons: Not great at cleaning eye makeup, and not such a great value for the price.

Total score: 8/10

Ingredients: 8/10 (I like that Mizon includes several different types of oils and beneficial plant extracts.  But I had to reduce a couple for some acne-triggering ingredients.)

Quality: 9/10 (Performed well: cleanses really well and washes away without any residue!)

Wear: 9/10 (I rub this onto a dry skin, and you can definitely feel it cleaning all the makeup and grime off your face!)

Price: 7/10 (I paid $16 – which wouldn’t be a bad price if the cleanser lasted more than a month!  Unfortunately, I feel like I have to use a lot in order to really feel like my skin is getting clean.)

The pH of the foam cleanser is 9.5. I will be posting about it soon. It’s way too high if you have problem skin! (I posted about the Skin Food Pore Foam recently for having a way too high pH too.)

Thanks for replying! My sister recently bought both of these, but I’ve been hesitant to try the foam cleanser. With no pH strips handy I decided against it, and now I’m glad I did. I’ve discovered that cleansers with a high pH seriously dry out my face, which creates all sorts of problems. Now the trick is to find a low pH cleanser that works for me.

I recommend Cerave Facial Foaming Cleanser. It’s cheap and set at 5.5pH. But, it’s definitely not strong enough on it own. You need to do the double-cleansing method with an oil cleanser (mizon’s is great) to get makeup, grime, etc… off first, then follow up with the Cerave. It’s mild and non-drying! Good luck!

Thanks for the recommendation. I was thinking of trying Etude House’s Wonder Pore Whipping Foam or Facial Soap. I really like the Wonder Pore Freshner, and the other products are also supposed to help keep your skin’s pH balanced at an ideal level. The foam is set at 4.5 pH and the facial soap is labeled as 4.5 +/-1 pH.
